Renewal price matters more than the promo

A cheap first year is useful only if the renewal economics remain acceptable. Compare multi-year cost and transfer fees before building a large domain portfolio.

Security controls

Look for two-factor authentication, registry lock options for valuable domains, DNSSEC support, account recovery controls, auditability and strong separation between registrar and website credentials.

DNS and infrastructure

Fast, resilient DNS, API access, automation support and integration with the rest of your infrastructure can matter more than a polished storefront.

Portability

You should be able to unlock and transfer domains when eligible. Avoid operational designs that make your domain dependent on a single site builder or hosting vendor.
