HIOP Fundamentals

What HIOP Is

Explain HIOP as the decision that comes before an effect runs.

Explanation

What you are learning

HIOP's job is to decide a requested effect before that effect runs, and to keep the decision with the request. On the teaching workstation a known actor asks for lab.observe. The decision comes back as PERMIT. Dispatch stays false and executed stays false. The decision is real. The effect has not run. This workstation is not the production console, and this course does not certify a production deployment.

Worked example

These fields were returned by the teaching workstation for this lesson. They are not a production permit.

Exercise

Try it before you check

A PERMIT on this workstation means the teaching effect may later be dispatched. It does not mean the effect already ran.

After handle returns PERMIT, has lab.observe run?

A passed check is saved in this browser so you can resume. It is not a certificate, not an accreditation, and not authority to run an effect.
